At Rocking Horse Friends children “Learn to Play and Play to Learn”. We are a play-based Early Care and Education program in a home-like environment. We follow an eclectic field of philosophies primarily focused on Magda Gerber’s Resources for Infant Educarers (RIE) where children are seen as competent individuals who are cared for through observation, respectful language and belief that all children are capable of their highest potential. Additionally we incorporate some of the theories of Reggio Emilia, a region in Italy, whose community structure is based upon children and nurturing what children have to offer. We do this by deep observations and structuring the learning environment based on the interests and then “scaffolding” of the child’s focused learning. You may also see some leanings toward Montessori in equipment and choices of toys and experiences.
We offer a full day, Monday – Friday infant, toddler and 3’s program, ages 4 months – 42 months (3.5 years). We are open from 7:30am – 5:30pm, located in Marinwood and the Dixie School District. License #214005458
